Junior Sister/Trauma Co-ordinator

The trauma ward is one that is replete with challenges. This hospital offers the Junior Sister the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic pro-active team of nurses. Their major objective - improving patient care. The Junior Sister leads, motivates and guides the members of the multidisciplinary team within which she works. This will be a rotational post with other postholders within the Trauma Unit. The rotation will initially be on a weekly basis to the post of Trauma Co-ordinator. The post will provide a nursing focus and liaison to the management of orthopaedic trauma patients. As the Orthopaedic Trauma Co-ordinator you are required to: Attend screens meeting every morning (Monday to Friday) Attend morning ward round with Orthopaedic Trauma team (including outlying adult patients) Provide an interface between the patient, carer, family and the multidisciplinary team Promote evidence based nursing care for trauma patients Ensure, where possible, that a carer is identified, confirmed and involved in planning patients’ discharge Provide a focus to the development of care for the older patients with fractured neck of femur. First level registered nurse Desirable: Diploma / Degree in nursing ENB 219 - Orthopaedic Nursing ENB 998/or Cert 730 D32/33 Knowledge of Orthopaedic and Trauma conditions As a Trauma Co-orindator you will have: Minimum 2 years at E Grade Trauma and Orthopaedic nursing experience Teaching and supervising trained and untrained staff Understanding of nursing standards and auditing practice Desirable:Management experience and research experience Good communication and interpersonal skills. Time management skills Well organised Ability to motivate others Flexible approach to work Motivated Assertive Ability to challenge Knowledge of Venepuncture and Cannulation would be considered favourably The hospital offers a Junior Sister/Trauma Co-ordinator with opportunities for career development, and pay and conditions have improved steadily.
