Staff Nurse - Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit - Band 6

Our client is an NHS Trust based in Central London, they are known throughout the world for their expertise, standard of care and research success. As a specialist trust they only provide treatment for people with heart and lung disease. This means their doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff are experts in their chosen field, and many move to this hospital from throughout the UK, Europe and beyond, so they can develop their particular skills even further. They carry out some of the most complicated surgery, and offer some of the most sophisticated treatment that is available anywhere in the world and treat patients from all over the UK and around the globe. Vacancies exist within the cardiothoracic surgical unit at our client hospital. The unit consists of 3 wards, all having an integral High Dependency Unit, which ensures that you are able to care for patients both during their acute post-surgery phase and during their rehabilitation phase prior to discharge. Each ward provides you with an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical and managerial skills, depending on experience, in a centre renowned for excellence and high standards, where the majority of nursing staff are permanent, experienced members of the team. Registered Nurse Relevant post-registration course SLICE I and II or equivalent level of knowledge All staff are expected to take responsibility for their own continual personal development Relevant post-registration experience and HDU experience. (part of them should be in cardiothoracics) The candidates applying for this vacancy should have: some prior High Dependency Care Experience being in charge of a clinical area prior cardio-thoracic experience, but those with related experience - it should be relevant surgical experience, i.e. vascular or renal surgery will be considered the ability to learn and gain knowledge in a new speciality may be considered Experience in the supervision of junior staff/others Ward management knowledge. Able to take charge of a clinical area Leadership skills Evidence of continuing professional development Proven communication skills both orally and in writing Proven teaching and assessing skills Flexible to change Able to prioritise and meet deadlines Able to manage difficult situations effectively Able to use initiative Venepuncture Demonstrates an awareness of the wider NHS organisation and its service Developments and the aims and developments within the trust Demonstrates evidence of applying current research to practice Experience of audit and research Experience of using computer packages A NHS package, pension, Band 6 pay |
