Senior Sister/Charge Nurse

A private 20-bedded inpatient ward with a small inpatients department. The Senior Sister will have a key role in improving the service in line with the changing needs of the patients. The Senior Sister is the Team Manager is responsible for inspiring and motivating the team in the ward and clinic areas. Importantly the post takes a lead role in delivering superlative practices in customer care. Provide 24-hour accountability for the ward and clinic and all private patients. Provide continuous responsibility for standards of care, including development of nursing standards and protocols. Take the lead role in developing the nursing service and clinical care Provide training, support and supervision to all nursing staff; developing their clinical skills and knowledge to ensure they are clinically competent. Ensure that highest cleaning and catering standards are met. Overall responsibility for clinical governance. Network with other Private Patient Units for new developments and ideas to ensure best practice. To work as a Surgical Senior Sister you will need: To hold current registration with the NMC as a RN1. No ONP or Adaptations nurses need apply. Desirable: Diploma/Degree in Nursing Ability to teach and supervise registered and unregistered staff and students. Ability to motivate and lead others Proven time management skills Excellent communication skills Proven organisational skills Clear understanding of the role of nursing in the development of clinical care within the multi-disciplinary team and the wider organisation Multi speciality experience required and 2 years at band 6 Teaching & supervising trained and untrained staff Understanding of nursing standards and auditing practice Multi speciality nursing care Research /audit awareness Motivated Assertive/challenging Flexible Sense of humour Desirable: Experience in private patient setting The hospital offers a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with opportunities for career development, and pay and conditions have improved steadily.
