The post holder will provide a general nursing contribution to the Manchester CATS Service. As a member of a multi-disciplined team, the post involves responsibility for assessment of patients, carrying out relevant tests, arranging follow-up and offering advice and information. The work will be undertaken autonomously. Including running nurse led clinics, in accordance with recognised protocols and in partnership with other members of the team Project name : Manchester CATS Project Project Details : Care UK is one of the leading independent providers in the NHS primary care sector. We’re constantly looking for ways to improve our services and are about to set up a Clinical Assessment, Treatment and Support (CATS) scheme in the Manchester area. It’s a project that will have a major impact on primary care, focussing on the development of specialised services in mobile clinics to reduce waiting times across an entire region - Principal Duties and Responsibilities *Clinical To carry out and develop if required nurse lead clinics within agreed guidelines and protocols. To assume responsibility for development, implementation and evaluation of patient care and standards. To review the patient history of follow up attendees, undertake appropriate examination and tests, and organise treatment where necessary. To refer patients to other health care professionals or agencies where appropriate. To adhere to infection control policies. To have an understanding, empathetic approach to patients, recognising that many will be worried and anxious. To maintain accurate records at all times documenting details of tests, treatment and follow up in patient’s notes and on the department database. To perform clinical triage on referrals received by Care UK at the patient management centre. To promote positiv! e relationships and be an active member of the multi-professional team, liaising closely with all those providing patient care. To acknowledge complaints and deal with them appropriately in accordance with Care UK policy. To contribute to the monitoring of expenditure of use and resources. To participate in research and audit projects as appropriate, in conjunction with colleagues. *Education and training: To be responsible for providing patients and carers with up to date information regarding their condition. To participate in the ongoing training and development of other staff members. To mentor student nurses and be involved in their clinical supervision as appropriate. To attend relevant meetings, always communicating effectively and reporting back to the team. To identify own training needs and attend relevant study days/courses as agreed with the line manager. To participate in the development of appropriate strategies to meet new national and local objectives, e.g: clinical governance, risk management. Managerial To monitor and maintain effective and efficient standards of patient care within the Clinic. To liaise and maintain good working relationships. To liaise and work with the Unit Manager to ensure smooth running of clinics. To ensure any major problems or issues related to clinic/medical staff are escalated to the appropriate manager. To maintain knowledge of current trends of health care and development within the profession, disseminating this information to all nursing staff. Professional To develop and participate in clinical audit. To ensure that research findings are used to inform and underpin nursing practice. To be aware of, and when appropriate, instigate/participate in and support research and practice evaluation projects which explore, develop and enhance services.! To work to agreed objectives and a personal development plan as agreed with line manager. Desirable Qualifications : Evidence of further education Essential Qualifications : RGN 1 Registered with NMC Evidence of updating practice and continued professional development Willing to undertake education/courses relevant to area of practice and service development Essential Experience : Excellent computer skills. |
