Our client hospital is looking to recruit a Senior Theatre Practitioner who is reliable, enthusiastic and able to lead a team during under pressure. The ability to educate and mentor junior staff would be an added advantage. This position is a Band 6 Theatre Practioner and is involved with the elective and emergency teams This dedicated team is concerned with General Surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, Opthalmics and Urology. The Senior Theater Practitioner should already have experience at Band 6 and be enthusiastic and professional. The hospital is a modern district facility that provides emergency care, surgery, diagnostics, paedriatics, maternity, out patient and day care services. It was built in 2002 and, of the 600 beds, over 30% of the bedrooms have private facilities. Amongst the tasks normally associated with this post the key duties of the Senior Theatre Practitioner include: Coordinate a specialist team Occasionally work independently in a remote clinical area Supervise, teach and motivate junior staff Senior Theatre Practitioner is a substantive post RGN-EN (G) or ODA or ODP Desirable qualifications for this theatre position incude: a) Theatre course b) UZW 202/200/403 c) Education to diploma or degree level The Senior Theatre Practitioner should have been trained in teaching or in the process of being trained to do so Working towards an Advanced Practitioner level Desirable training for the Senior Theatre Practitioner includes: Evidence of teaching Budget Awareness Workload planning The Senior Theatre Practitioner should possess the following skills: Competency in operating theatre setting IT skills in the clinical speciality of theatre/operating evironment Ability to anticipate needs Understanding of the change management process It would be advantageous if the Senior Theatre Practioner enjoyed the following personal qualities: Good verbal and written communication Team orientated Enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable The hospital offers a Senior Theatre Practitioner with opportunities for career development, and pay and conditions have improved steadily.
